LOCATION

The spot is actually a campment on a piece of land in between the Atlantic Ocean and the Senegal river.  This piece of land is about 150 meter wide and 32 km long.  What you have is a river just next to the ocean, but protected by a long piece of land, so you are surrounded by water on the both sizes.

The campment makes the place a magic location, because it is run on a relaxed way by Dominique and this 8 headed crew.  You sleep in special made tents with real beds in it.  You have 4 bad rooms with toilet and shower.  Breakfast is take outside with a sunset view on the river, lunch we have in a big Mauritanian tent (because it is to hot outside) and dinner again in the Mauritanian tent.  The meals are as healthy you can get them on this planet.  The bar is always open and campfires are quite common at the campment.   So as you can read it has very thing that you need for a relaxed vacation, also the place is never very crowed, only on weekends you have inland people from St. Louis that come to relax on the beach.

The campment is property from the Hotel 'La Residence' located in St.Louis, some 18 km from the campment.  So if you want to get to the crowed world again, there are a few boats and cars that go each day to St. Louis.  St. Louis is a town that was colonized first by the France, later by the England and then again by France.  Now it is run again by the Senegalese, but still you can see the French influence on the town.  St. Louis is not that big and most of the people live from fishing and tourists.

We advise you to get some vaccinations before you go to Senegal, you will need a vaccine against 'yellow fever' and 'polio'.  As medication to take with you, you can take immodium and some thing against malaria.  The risk for malaria is only in the months June, July, August and September. (very hot)
